John Burnett is a lifelong native of Jackson County, MO. The eldest of ten siblings, John Burnett and his family lived a modest lifestyle just two blocks from the Downtown Kansas City Courthouse. At a young age, John was taught the importance of participation in the political process.
Following his 18th birthday, John Burnett served in Vietnam where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, John Burnett earned his degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Law. John Burnett has been practicing law in the courts of the Kansas City area since 1978. His law practice has included three appearances in the Supreme Court of Missouri.

John Burnett is a small business owner and a union supporter. John Burnett is a product of Kansas City's public schools and has raised three children in Jackson County, MO.
